Exclusive interview: PFK law firm analyzes the Generation Z revolt in Kenya in the German media Deutsche Welle (DW)
Against a backdrop of growing social unrest in Kenya, our lawyer Brozeck KANDOLO, an expert in digital law at PFK-Avocats, was interviewed by German media outlet Deutsche Welle (DW) to discuss the unprecedented mobilization of Generation Z against the creation of new taxes in Kenya.
Kenya, currently in the throes of massive protests, is seeing a wave of young citizens take to the streets and invade social networks to express their discontent with new tax policies. This generation is using social platforms to organize, communicate and raise awareness of perceived injustices.
In his interview, the digital law expert from PFK-Avocats stressed the importance of this digital mobilization. “We can see that the mobilization of Generation Z via social networks is creating a new transformation in Africa in the way citizens exercise their rights and participate in the political life of their country. This mobilization in Kenya today is enabling broader and more democratic participation, giving voice to people who are often excluded from traditional decision-making processes,” he explained.
He also mentioned that this trend could be the harbinger of a wider change in Africa, where technology and social networks are playing an increasingly crucial role in citizen activism and engagement. This new form of political participation could well redefine the interactions between governments and citizens, fostering a society that is more inclusive and responsive to the needs of its younger members.
PFK-Avocats, known for its expertise in digital law, is keeping a close eye on these developments and supporting initiatives to promote civic engagement through digital means. The expert concluded by asserting that this mobilization is not only a response to unpopular fiscal policies, but also a powerful demonstration of the ability of young Africans to shape the political future of their continent.
